Re: My G9 vs. Brick Wall (House Foundation) @ WOT
Well, wasn't as bad as first appeared once I got to inspecting/tearing apart. No cracked welds, no broken suspension/steering parts. Just the sub bumper bent up and both mount bolts snapped off (pic #1) & the top main down bracket which is welded to the frame. Also 3 of 4 long bolts that mount the A-arms to the bent mount will need to be replaced. Just have to figure out how the hell to straighten that back out to at least close to what it was. So far, I've bent all cheater bars I've been able to find around the house.......lol
So all-in-all, not that bad. Oh, and of course a new folding windscreen. |

According to the attached parts breakdown pic, I can't just buy that mount I'd have to buy the whole frame..F-that!!. (Circled in Red)

Re: My G9 vs. Brick Wall (House Foundation) @ WOT
I wish I had a way to get it hot enough. It's an awkward place to try and get a solid swing on it with a BFh. The downside to being military is moving so much and losing all those "local contacts" who have all those nice special type tools/torches/etc in the process. I've got a few folks I've met since moving to Ga and hoping they may be able to help me find what I need. I was also thinking a big slide hammer may do the trick, but in the same boat as above in finding one to try out.
If nothing else, I can cut the mount off and have one fabricated at a local shop and weld it back in place. I'll get it figured out..........hopefully sooner rather than later. Last edited by raenglehart; 08-05-2014 at 04:53 PM.. Reason: I have fat fingers today.....lol |

I don't know what part of middle Georgia you're in, but CT Rebuilds is in Appling, GA. They rebuilt my engine, and are good people. I don't know if they do that kind of thing, but could probably give you some contacts. Their px is: (706)533-2698. The owner's name is Carrie.

Re: My G9 vs. Brick Wall (House Foundation) @ WOT
Well, with the much appreciated help of a new buddy of mine (neighbor I recently met about a month ago), I am happy to report the G9 is back in action.
We ended up just cutting the factory a-arm mount off and using a vice & BFH (as CAMPERCART2013 suggested) the mount was able to be straightened enough for gov't work. I ended up just replacing the aluminum sub-bumper (was only $18 ). Not too shabby for a Sunday afternoon over a few cold ones. Big thanks to Jason (the neighbor). FYI, he's now on the lookout for a cart of his own, so if anyone knows of one in Middle Ga let me know. Still need a new windshield, but that can wait. |
