Default Smoking 96 FE290!!!

I have a 96 Club car with a FE290. Its doesn't smoke at first but a couple of minutes after running it starts smoking. Every time I stop and take off it smokes the whole block up. I'm thinking it's the valve seals but didn't know if anyone else had any thoughts on it???? thanks!!!!

No it's going to be the rings. You can take the valve seals out and it still won't smoke hardy at all. I think the exhaust doesnt even use a valve seal.

My 99 does the same thing.
I posted a thread and most say its the oil ring on the piston.
Mine has perfect compression but smokes like your does.
Engine will have to come apart to repair.
Or you have the year cart you can swap a clone into also.

I have a 96 FE290 that was doing the exact same thing! I put a set of rings in it and had a friend of mine at a machine shop cut the valves and clean the head up and replace the valve seals.

I took it for a test drive today. After the residual oil in the muffler burned off, it runs great. No smoking up hills! The whole job cost about $100 and several hours fighting that stupid clutch. I wish I would have bought the removal tool!!

My 96 smokes black and leaves dry black carbon on the ground. Is it possible the it's just carbon build up?

Black smoke is excess fuel. Need to clean out the carb and make sure the float isn’t sticking open.

Not unless the motor has been rebuilt. In my DS I replaced the motor. Old motor smoked like a train. The new one would smoke after about 5 min of driving like crazy, previous owner of this motor said no smoke at all. So I bbq's the muffler to burn out all the unburnt oil from the previous engine. It had about 5 minutes of smoke while it blew out whatever was leftover from.the bbq. It has not smoked the slightest since
