Default Start without muffler

After fixing the exhaust stud I have motor back in but no exhaust gasket yet Will it be ok to start without muffler inplace. I've heard shouldn't run a 2 stroke with out one. I have run other 2 strokes without one but how about this ez-go engine?? I use 128:1 oil in it but I wouldn't dare use that in other 2 strokes

No problem starting it for testing but I would not run it around as normal usage that way and you would need ear plugs anyway.

The muffler isn't the issues, its not having a pipe right off the head that can cause damage.2-strokes in stuff like bikes,sleds,etc...use a Power-Band,that is built into the pipe to make power, the cart 2-stroke is so low pm,and Hp,that its' just a muffler, nothing else.If you have the Head-Pipe installed, you can run it without risk of damage, but you do risk alot of heat and fumes under the seat-area,so a short run would be best, and remove the seat after,to allow it to cool and ventilate. If you run it without a govenor, and run it hard,Switch to 100:1(1-1/2 oz. per gal.)your motor will be better protected, and it still won't smoke.Hope this helps.

Yes,Expansion Chamber, been a while,i couldnt remember the name.Don,the last time i used my ratio-rite,that was what it said,so thats where i came up with it.I was mixing it like that long before i came here.Trust me,I suck at math,i.couldnt tell you how to get the ratio from the amount, not a clue how to do it.Thats why i used the ratio-rite since the mid 80s.

I always ran it at 1-1/2oz,since mine wasnt goverened, and i would run it wide open for long stretches.Never fouled a plug, they were always perfect, and the last motor held up for4yrs of abuse, took it out for a BB swap, and put it on a shelf for future use.
