The details for the Jakes lift say that I have to replace my hubs with aluminum ones if mine are steel. Does anyone know why? Just wondering. It looks like I might have steel ones, but I have got to pull the tire to make sure.
Could it be because the steel will cause the aluminum to oxidize? if they fit you could make a gasket to go btwn them, maybe out of an inter tube.

One last question: How long to install the Jakes lift kit? Is this a weekend plus project or something you can accomplish in a few hours? I guess I will find out soon enough, but just curious.

I'd say it will take about a 12 pack.

that is a Saturday afternoon easy enough! kit will be here tomorrow along with some thunderstorms. Sounds like I will have a project in the shop while it's too wet to do anything else.

More to follow........

Well I am about 4 hour into the lift install. It’s going pretty slow due to rework. I have pictures to post but for some reason I can’t up load them. I have finished the front and about to start the rear.

About the kit, parts and fit up get an A+. The instructions get a C! If the kit wasn’t so nice, I wouldn’t even comment about the instructions. There were a few reference errors but no big deal. My rework was due to not getting the steering wheel set to center the first time. I thought I had it, but the steering wheel was 180 degrees out. Got everything bolted up before I realized my blunder. I have to laugh at myself...... I do that type crap all the time.

Maybe I can post my pics later.

Cheers!
