Can you buy just shims for the input shaft for a g16

I was wondering if you can buy just the shims everything I find is a kit with all the bearings shims and shaft was just wondering

Thanks this is my first Yamaha and I’m trying to learn as much as I can but it looks like I’m gonna have to buy a shaft unless they can be welded on and retreaded tried to get the nut off snapped the end off

Nope, don't think that'll work. I used the CCP kit on my Vanguard G16. It came with several different thickness shims. It was trial and error to get the correct combination of shims for proper endplay.

I have worked on many, many of those axles. I have never once seen one that was within spec for endplay from the factory, I mean I find them at 5x the book number. The point I'm making here is that apparently it's not super critical to get it perfect, close is good. I have a big stack of the shims to tighten the crazy ones up with.

Will input shafts from other Yamahas interchange or does it have to be for a g16

G16 and G22 are the same. Late G14, with the Dana rear end, too. Don't know about the newer ones...

I've got an input shaft that has some nicks on the reverse gear. Forward is OK.
