It will work - but only use that setup while you are saving your coins for the proper 6 - 6 volt batteries

Yes you can use the 3x12v batteries in place of the 6x6v batteries. Your runtime will be reduced but all will work fine until you can replace your 6v.

THe charger was made for 18 cells and now you have 9 so it may tend to cook the 12v..... check their temp
Your charger should work as it did with the 6v batteries.
Each fill hole is a cell 6v batteries have 3 cells and 12v batteries have 6 cells.
There are 18 cells in 6x6v and also 18 cells in 3x12v.

You will still have to be careful about heat build up as per SCOTTYB.

Electric Cars run on SMOKE, if you let the smoke out they will no longer run. Big difference between series and parallel circuits.

Doesn't Club Car use an 18v tap from the pack for reverse? I just got one like yours and I think I noticed this to be true. Someone correct me if I'm full of it.

You are right ..... half power reverse. You will hate it the first time you are stuck in the mud, snow, or sand.... quickest/easiest upgrade you can make is to take the the stock green 18v power cable off of the battery #3 and loop it back to the other lug on the bottom of your F&R (there are 2 lugs on the bottom) this will give 36v reverse....
