Default bulging batteries

Hi Gang,

The batteries on my 05 Precedent are bulging along the short sides. I know from past experience with batteries that is not a good thing. I bought the cart used so I am at the mercy of the previous owner(s).

They are Trojan, showing D7 on the posts. They seem to take a charge OK,
do I need to replace now or wait until they won't take charge? I don't want to risk breaking a battery !

Thanks, Dave

Dave, buy and learn to use a digital multimeter for your sparky cart. It is your first tool. Visit the Trojan Battery website for some great info on care and maintenance. 07 Trojans should have 5 years left in them, if, they were cared for. Colrado winters can take their toll on cells just as bad as Wisconsin can.

Ya know, they all do that. At least the 60 lb. plus cart batteries....
Is all the lead suspended from the terminals or what? Naw..Why do they sag??
Dangit. Now I have to find out. Enquiring minds want to know....

They will all 'swell', now to say they are 'bulging' may be a sign of excessive heat. Heat from what though is the question...

"Swell" is probably the better word. I put in a tech question at trojan to find out what causes swell.I'll let you know the official answer when I get it Probably like asking, "why do my tires wear out??"
The technician is probably thinkin' what a newbie!%#@*?
