bump steering
The cart runs good and strait at speed, but when easing along in the woods if either wheel catches a little or crawl over a log unevenly it will snatch the wheel hard over to that side. If I see it coming I can hold a little tighter and prevent it. Is there anything that can be done to ?dampen this?
I think this kinda goes along with the above but not completly. With a 2" offset from the lift and 1-3/8" wheel offset the cart turns extremely sharp (this is great for maneuvering in the woods. But it concerns me at higher speeds. So now for a little James bond or whatever, I'm thinking of a steering stop that could be released with a lever or cable when in a tight predicament. This steering stop would keep the bump steering from going as far but I don't think it would stop it. Any recomendations? Thanks |

Re: bump steering
Sounds like a stering damper is what you need. It looks like a shock absorber on your steering linkage.
Basicly it takes the hard quick turn out of the steering and allows for slower turns. Nore more jerking the wheels to one side. Theyre also called steering stabilizers too. |

Re: bump steering
That is an option but there are too many carts out there all shapes and sizes not running a stabilizer and doing fine so I think that would be a mask over the real problem.
Make the spindle arms where the tierod attatches 2" longer on both sides and that should return the leverage ratio back to normal. |

Re: bump steering
which will also also slow the steering down - helping in the high speed stuff

Re: bump steering
I have done this myself... try towing the wheels out it will prevent the tires from taking course!
