I have had this happen several times since my upgrade. Maybe 6 or 7 times in over a year.

It happened so infrequently I wasn't too concerned and since it was very intermittent, I was not able to troubleshoot it. I even thought it might be my 6 year old Crown batteries, but they still show 49.8 to 50.3 volts after our 6 mile daily run.

Thanks for the heads up, NoleFan! Now I just need to carry my small nylon hammer with me and I'll be good to go!

Nole, Did any/all of those solenoids have diodes on them?

All of them. Suppression diode on the activation circuit and a Regen diode on the bridge posts.

One of my friends that did it did not have the suppression diode but did have the regen diode.

OP reports the pack voltage drops to 40v when he hits the pedal. I'm curious how an open circuit causes such a drain on the pack.

I think he was reporting the Voltage as measured by the Alltrax monitor which is on the other side of the Solenoid.

By the way, you need to tap on the bottom plate on those Solenoids if they are not activating, I believe the issue is with the dual-coil switching on the bottom contacts.

I have my MZJ Solenoid mounted with the studs pointing sideways as some of the manufacturers of that design recommend.

My thought was that the motor wasn't turning only only making noise trying to run. Because the motor came apart towing it home. But we may never know because he disappeared.

That is correct. You see it on the Monitor screen.

Update, for anyone interested.

Contacted ScottyB, who sold me the solenoid/motor, controller kit this summer. He said the solenoid was out of warranty but he would send me a new one if I sent me old one back to him.

I installed the new solenoid and the cart runs perfect again.

As to some of the questions about the voltages I posted, I was reading the voltage off of the laptop while viewing the Alltrax screens. I didn't think to check and see if those readings matched up with volt meter readings of the battery pack.

Thank you very much for the help diagnosing this, and a big thank you to ScottyB for taking care of the solenoid even though it is beyond the warranty the manufacturer gave it.

Glad you are up and running and great support by scottyb!

This appears to be an on-going problem and I guess I need to dissect one and figure out what it is...
