Accidently Shorted Terminals on Motor
Well......Today I accidentally shorted the 2 forward most terminals on the motor. I was checking the tightness of the cables and the wrench touched the other terminal. Brief spark and now no Forward movement. Reverse works well. Any ideas please? It's a 2008 Precedent. Before this, it was lurching on flat ground as if the regen was kicking in and out, and VERY slow.
Thanks for any ideas or help. |

Re: Accidently Shorted Terminals on Motor
all controllers use SMOKE to make them work....
when you shorted the motor all the SMOKE left your controller and hense you "SMOKED THE CONTROLLER" kidding aside I believe you will need a new one.... but that's not a bad thing cause now you havean excuse to buy a new 500amp one (PLUG and PLAY ) that will give you more speed and torque. you are not alone.... if you search the site you'll find others who have done the same..live and learn put in tow first ..... disconnect battery lead second |

Re: Accidently Shorted Terminals on Motor
Tow mode actually wouldn't prevent this at all. The tow mode kills all of the power to the small wires in the 24 pin harness. It doesn't affect any of the #6 gauge wires. They're still hot. A lot of people have that misconception. I've seen guys nearly kill themselves because of it.
