Re: Winter storage?
If you want to move over 500 pounds of lead around (TWICE), go right ahead.
But, it's not necessary. |

Re: Winter storage?
I have mine on a digital landscape timer. Every monday at 8 am it comes on for 2 hours. Works like a charm.

Re: Winter storage?
Buy a small 36 or 48 volt float charger and leave it on all winter.

Re: Winter storage?
I have a battery tinder for my old motorcycle, would that work? It has a setting for 6Volt and 12Volt, what setting would it need to be on if I can use it and would I just need to leave it on all winter or put it on a timer?

Re: Winter storage?
A GOOD charger is a modern digitally controlled solid state device that takes good care of your batteries. That good charger is a Delta Quiq 48. It does not have a constant maintainance mode although the guys at Delta tell me that it is on their list of goodies they would like to get corporate to let them program into the system. It would be a software upgrade. Their headquarters is a hours drive from here and I have been there and got the grand tour. It does have a programmed automatic restart every 30 days. Just leave it plugged in. I sure like mine. No more boiled batteries.

You would have to remove the batteries, and configure them for either 6 or 12 volts. Or I suppose you could leave them in the cart and rewire them there. But either way it will be a pain. Then put your battery tender on them and leave it all winter. |

Re: Winter storage?
I store on the average of 25 cars in the winter and all that i do is give em a good charge and put plastic under them in case there is a leaker so it doesent eat the concrete floor, then i unhook the main pos.and neg. cable and they are good to go. in two months i go back and give them a boost charge, about an hour or so.Never had any problems yet.
