Swapping Parts in a 1994 Trans-sender and a 2005 DS IQ
I recently acquired a 1994 6 seat Club Car Trans-Sender with a 36 Volt system. It has brand new batteries (2 month old Trojans), but still barley climbs a moderate hill. I know I can convert to a 48V system, but I have brand new 6V batteries. I really don't care to add speed, or not much, but I really want it to pull those hills faster. The question I have is, can I swap out the drive system from a 48V DS IQ cart into my Trans-Sender? I know I'll still have to buy new batteries, but if I could put the 36V system in the DS cart, I could recoup most of my money.
Would that work? Not worth the effort? Any suggestions? I really want some additional Torque. |

The easiest, simplest method would be to add 2 more 6v batteries to that trans-sender and continue using the stock motor. Running the 36v motor on 48v will up the speed and torque by about 33%.
Of course you'll need to upgrade the solenoid to handle the extra voltage and I'd go with larger cables while I'm at it. You'll need a 48v charger too. |

Re: Swapping Parts in a 1994 Trans-sender and a 2005 DS IQ
There’s no real easy way to swap the IQ stuff over. It would have to be literally Everything, and you would probably not be happy with the torque from the stock IQ motor in that big heavy 6 seat cart.
The best thing for the big cart: 2 extra 6v batteries to make it 48v. Smart charger to give them the proper charge. Higher output controller like an Alltrax SR48500 Upgraded Cables, solenoids, and heavy duty FNR switch. 48v Torque motor from a reputable company. Then you can haul as many people as you want. |

Re: Swapping Parts in a 1994 Trans-sender and a 2005 DS IQ
Thanks, guys. Good info. So where do I put two more batteries? I the only thing I already have is the heavy cables, and they are new. So, a complete conversion looks like the only real solution? If I do that I probably should look at an AC induction motor set up. I had the 2005 IQ cart for $900, but sounds like it just needs batteries. If I did the conversion and left the 36 volt motor in, I assume it would eventually burn the motor up? Could I then change just the motor out at that time? I’m mechanical enough to handle the work, but I know very little about golf carts. I appreciate the help.
