You are lucky, that blue wire is the positive wire but since you connected it to the negative post there was no voltage.
The negative wire is a 12ga black wire with a yellow bullet connector. One you get your 48v->12v reducer, what gets connected to that blue wire depends on where you mount the reducer. If you get a generic reducer and mount it in the battery compartment, then your reducer +12v output goes to that blue wire. If you get a precedent plug-and-play type reducer that is mounted up front then you would connect that blue wire to +48v for the reducer input. |

This was the original setup from Club Car. The blue wire is connected to the negative side of the terminal. What am I missing?

If you notice that is the same voltage as if it was connected to the positive of the previous battery that is connected to the same cable.
That provided 16v for the accessories and it was not good for those first two batteries. What kind if voltage converter did you get (4 or 5 wire)? |

Yep- I see. I have a 5 wire that I did a test with. I was able to connect to the battery terminals and have 12v for the output, but as was mentioned, I may have blown my lights out because they do not power up.
I believe I will just get a more comprehensive light kit that I can plug directly into my dash connectors and avoid the cheap voltage reducer due primarily to heat problems associated with them. |

Ok so I did the same upgrade with similar results. What I found after installing the 48v to 12v reducer that my turn signals and lights were very dim. After further troubleshooting I found a 16v to 12v reducer in the negative circuit. The reducer is mounted on the firewall behind the front headlight assembly and is connected into the harness with a short adapter plug to plug. This was reducing the already reduced 12 v down to around 10v.
I disconnected the adapter and reconnected the 2 plugs and I am getting 12v at the light circuit Now I just have to buy new lights |

Take a look at my ReLion post.. had same issue the Blue light kit is the 12v+ once you install a voltage reducer on one of the batteries should be Ok as the neutral is part of the harness.
I went with a switch VR and put in a fuse box and now have light kit, USBs and LED lights all running 12v nicely |
