Default 36v PDS to 48v wiring harness convertion instructions?

Does anyone have a walk through on how to replace the 36v wiring harness with the 48v?

I have an '05 TXT PDS and the batteries went out.

I purchased:
  • 48v (51.2v actual) Ego Lithium 105ah battery
  • (charging port, charger, 48- 12v step down, and meter included)
  • 400a solenoid
  • 48v TXT wiring harness.

I have two issues:

1. I can't figure out what side of my solenoid is + and -.

2. I know that many of the connectors are not the same from 36v to 48v, but I don't have a reference for what the existing one is and which connectors I need to change.

I've attached a picture of the 48v diagram, but which ones do I need to chop off and replace? The colors and counts don't match up like for like (i.e. a molex connector with 4 wires has different colors than any other 4 pin connector).
Also, some have mentioned just putting spade connectors on the new harness, do those fit in the white plastic connectors on the stock Curtis controller?

Does anyone have a good walk through or pdf on this?

I do plan on upgrading the the Navitas TAC2 600a controller and 5kw motor, but just trying to get this thing running for now.

Why are you swapping harness?

Everything I read said that harnesses needed to be swapped. But I guess I could be wrong because there are so many posts about going series to sepex or doing an AC conversion (which I will do eventually).

There is not a ton of clarity on what exactly is needed in a specific situation.

Not sure what is needed for an ac swap but just a straight 36/48 swap on a pds just require a new solenoid and controller or, if your controller is programmable, to have it programmed for 48

Pds and 48txt use different controllers and have different plugs on the harness. Like said if you want to use the new harness you will need the 48txt version of the controller.

The TXT 48 harness is required if you’re doing an AC Navitas conversion. If you’re converting your 36 volt PDS to 48 volt PDS I think you can use the same harness and change the solenoid and controller. According to other posts, the 36 volt PDS motors don’t last long when run on 48 volts using the stock motor. .They will do quite well on 42 volts.

If/when you convert to Ac(Navitas) there’s a good video from the guys at Golf Carts Modified that walks you through the 48TXT harness.

You have opened a can of worms that should have been left closed. TXT is a 48v version of the old PDS. As said it uses a different harness and controller... but none of that was needed just to run 48v. I have a 48v PDS using the stock harness, 48v motor, controller, and solenoid. Boom - done. It's mostly PnP.

I guess I gotta go by that Navitas set up now rather than later.

If I go with a conversion "kit" with these parts:
  • "AC 5 kW motor
  • 600 amp TAC2 AC Controller with Bluetooth
  • Navitas module for E-Z-GO TXT
  • Speed sensor/motor temperature harness
  • Mounting plate and hardware
  • Run/Tow switch mount
  • Motor phase cable
  • On-The-Fly programmer"

With this, I'll need the 48v TXT harness, correct?
