Default wire connector preference?

i've started the preliminary investigations for switching my wires to 4 gauge and i'm wondering if there are any opinions about different lug styles .... clamps vs bolt / stud attachment? really like those soldered and sealed ends someone posted a link for.

Personnally I like stud attachment and I use a stainless lock washer and nut.

The terminal ends you mentioned I used on my recent upgrade and I would highly recommend them

thx hdr,

i tend to agree .... though i think i'd use the steel band type of clamp v lead if it was available.

my question also concerned whether there's any difference in current flow with either style. surface contact area would still be the limiting factor with the ability to exclude moisture from the joint.

thx for the link too ... those are the ones.

I used the solder connectors and coated with liquid tape to seal any exposed wire.

thx too sr,

i need to replace the batt in my backhoe every 3 years and it's a pain to access so i have sealed the entire terminal in 'liquid elec tape' until recently. i've begun experimenting with the spray batt terminal coatings that i've discovered while researching maintenance for this cart.

those heat shrink sleeves do quite well in my experience.

I only used the liquid tape on the 1/2" section where the wire insulation meets the connector. I use the spray on protectant on the battery terminal.
