Building a Perfect EZGO PDS Cart
I've negotiated what I believe to be a pretty good deal with a local golf cart dealer on an 06 EZGO PDS built any way I want. (see below) They'll start on it as soon as I say. I have questions that I hope someone here can help me with.
I'm just trying to decide the least expensive, most effective way to give it more speed and torque. I'm getting conflicting advice. I'm wondering if I should have them convert it to a 48v (I don't think it'll be much of an upcharge for this), or just upgrade the motor, upgrade the controller or both. Convert to 48v? Convert to 48v and upgrade motor? Upgrade the motor, keep it 36v? Upgrade the controller, keep it 36v? Upgrade the motor and controller keep it 36v? 2006 Ez-go PDS Complete tear down and re-manufacture, sand prime paint and undercoat the frame. New Jakes 6 inch lift kit Black roof New 14 inch Fairway, ITP or SS wheels and low profile tires. New custom seat covers, your choice of color *New batteries New Wiring harness New Cables - 4 gauge wiring New Fuses New body and cowl factory painted New factory style head lights and tail lights (the good ones) New high speed chip or torque chip Tinted windshield is INCLUDED in price 5 panel mirror Re-conditioned golf bag attachment, roof pillars, etc $3495 $150 additional - Suite Seats $500 additional for rear seats w/matching custom covers (will these seats call for upgraded leaf springs?) Thanks very much in advance for any help with this. |

Re: Building a Perfect EZGO PDS Cart
Not much upcharge for a 48 volt upgrade? How do you figure this?????
Anyway, your 36 volt rebuilt is lacking the needed controller - a PDS cart should NOT be lifted unless a 400 amp (or more) controller is added. If your "dealership" is not aware of this, then I would question them. Also, the Jake's Lift is nice, but no way near the quality of a Factory kit. |

Re: Building a Perfect EZGO PDS Cart
I was under the impression that 48v batteries are roughly the same price as 36v. The controller and wiring would have to be upgraded but I thought this would be around $500.
Thanks for the help with the lift kit information. Any thoughts on the most cost effictive way to get the speed around the 23- 25mph range? |

I'd get a itemized quote because the deal seems awful good, almost too good. |

Re: Building a Perfect EZGO PDS Cart
So you think its a good plan to upgrade to a 400 amp controller and 4ga wires. Leave the stock 36v motor and put in 36v batteries? Seems pretty good to me.
It doesn't include taxes, but I know it is a good deal. It's been a long negotiation process. |

Re: Building a Perfect EZGO PDS Cart
I found this controller on Ebay. Do you think this is good for my cart?

Re: Building a Perfect EZGO PDS Cart
If you believe tht story, then go for it... Why would you sell a $700.00 controller for $250.00? Hummm........

If he couldn't return it as it states in the listing, why would you be able to ? Ask him if he'll match the 2 year warranty that comes stock from Alltrax and see what he does. You'll also need a Heavy Duty Solenoid to go along with it. I want to think most of the Cart Shop owners here recommend a 400 amp controller on a stock motor, seems I read where the 500 plus controllers eventually take a toll on the motor when I was looking to upgrade my cart. |

Re: Building a Perfect EZGO PDS Cart
Oh really? I haven't heard that the 500 amp controller can take a toll on the motor. I definitely don't want that. The dealer only offers a 6 month warranty on the cart.
I asked the ebay seller about the two year warranty anyway. I was judging this item by the fact that he's sold 700+ items on ebay with 100% satisfactory rating. In addition to Pay Pal covering the purchase 100% as long as a claim is made within 45 days of receiving it. But if the 500 amp controller is too much for a stock EZGO motor, then it really doesn't matter to me if this guy's product is bogus. |
