Default Can anyone tell me what year EZGO this axle came from?

Hello
I am currently building my cart and really want to add the Plowman’s posi unit in the rear. I have a 95 medalist and they only make the posi units for 98 and up (this is because of the larger gear assembly). In a post by Madoc1 (hopefully he will chime in), he took the parts from a new axle, added the posi unit, and then assembled it into his existing axle. I am planning on doing the same. I was able to get this axle from my local ezgo dealer and need to know what year it came from. I know it has the date 1-18-2006 but the last axle I got had a 99 date on it and it came from a marathon. I don’t really want to disassemble my axle just to see if the gears are bigger, especially if there is an easier way. Thanks is advance for any advice.

superman, an easy way to tell is by the size of the spyder gears. the older ones had equal size ones and the newer have two different sizes ones.

in the pic the one on the right is pre 99.

the axle you show looks correct for the posi.
just four bolts and it drops out to work on the bench.

That’s great news, thanks Madoc1. I see what you are saying about the different size gears, the new axle’s gears are different sizes. Looks like the posi unit is going to be my next purchase. What kind of cleaning should I give the new axle gears? I was thinking about just pressure washing them but should I use a degreaser and wire brush? They are pretty dirty.

i didn't do much. as you can see the donor gears were rusty , the carrier and spiders cleaned up some brake cleaner. used my original bearings.
