Do you know what the settings of the controller are? Is it programable? I would have them go over the settings for you and make sure they have everything setup right if it's programable. 12 MPH sounds a little slow for the tire size.

I think the stock motor turns around 2,650 RPM on 36v. with 22" tires that should be 14 MPH Cart speed calculator

Best Buy I would doubt they have one, nor would they know what a 9 pin serial cable is, try radio shack, or a computer store.

If I have motor changed to 4500 rpm would it still have all the low end? I use it at my camp lots of steep hills . Will this use up my batteries faster

Radio shack has the cable. I have one for my laptop. Make sure your computer isn't Vista because it want work on that program. I know I tried for 4 hrs and it wouldn't talk to the controller.
Putting a high speed motor will give you some good numbers but the batteries are going to know it. They want last long in a 4600 RPM range.
A stock E-Z-GO motor is 2800RPM.

I would call PQ and talk with Rick. Rick is the motor man for them. Give him the info you want the cart to work under and he will get you in the right direction.
