Club Car Precedent I2 Excel Speed Upgrade
Well was hoping to do a motor swap on my Cart until I found out I have the Excel system in my Precedent 2008. Anyone have any suggestions for the best speed upgrades I could do to my cart with the Excel or I2 system in it since the standard "Bandit" motor swap is not compatable? I have the speed code 4 in it with a lift and 22" tires, but am only getting right at 20 mph. Looking to get up to around 25 or so.
Thanks |

Anyone? Do people stay away from trying to upgrade the Excel systems?

There is no controller upgrade available that I know of. But why cant you swap motors? Have you asked Plum Quick for a reason why a motor swap would not work, other that the fact you would have to use the stock controller?

They say its a shunt motor and their bandit won't work.

What is your stock motor and model number, isn't it a shunt wound motor?

Re: Club Car Precedent I2 Excel Speed Upgrade
That sounds like the Advance Sepex motor, I had one in my 2008 Precedent IQ cart.
The GE D1163 motor I put in states that it must be run with a minimum 500 amp controller, but I do not see why it would not work with the stock controller, maybe someone else has an opinion. I just think it would have less torque. |

Re: Club Car Precedent I2 Excel Speed Upgrade
They are telling me its an excel system with excel braking and that the pq bandit motor won't work with this controller, so I'm trying to figure out my easiest way to get a little more speed or if anyone else has had this issue trying to upgrade this system

Re: Club Car Precedent I2 Excel Speed Upgrade
Well thats too bad, I would be interested in knowing why it does not work. i am guessing it is not the motor though and related more to the speed sensor and elimination of regen braking features with upgraded motors. I am guessing the Excel system braking features cannot be overridden or turned off like they can with the IQ system.

Does no one have a cart with an excel system that has made similar upgrades? Just looking for some experience on this? Thanks
