Default AH HA.....now I need some help with torque specs

So have been trying to get my 87 Marathon running halfway decent with no luck.

Been through the carb twice, the fuel pump and a bunch of new gaskets. I have good fuel pressure, 135 pounds of compression, and linkages look good. Tore the motor back out today with the idea of ordering crank seals in case they were bad. Just as I was about to quit for the day, I thought to look at the piston through the exhaust port. Sure as heck....doggone piston is backwards.

Next step is to reverse the piston. Can anybody tell me what the torque specs are for the head bolts? Thanks.

That happens more often than you would think, Here's your info. cylinder nuts 24 - 28 ft, lbs torque, head bolts to 17 - 18 ft. lbs. Use a crisscross pattern

here's some info, And WARNING TAKE NOTE in video #2 he installs the piston the wrong way. But in video #3 he fixes it LOL

Is this the same engine that had the throttle lever on backwards?

If I am following your threads correctly, you acquired this cart already like this, and somebody else was in there rebuilding.

Yep. Its the same cart and it was apparently raped by some hack at some point. I have (with the help of folks on this forum) managed to unscrew some of the problems. I am hoping that switching this piston around will get it running good enough to use in a couple weeks at The Easy Riders Rally. Just need it for a weekend and then I can do a total rebuild this winter
