Default Area behind "Safety and Operating Instructions" usable?

Hello, 2004 Ez-Go TXT/PDS.

I searched but couldn't find a definitive answer. Is the area behind the "Safety and Operating Instructions" glued on plate usable for accessories? I use my cart mainly for golf and driving back from the 19th hole and want to keep the stock golf and tee holders.

The normal area with ignition switch and FWD/REV switch will be used for a voltmeter soon as well so no room anywhere else. I want to remove the plate and use that large area for accessories.

Someone out there must have done this before. I assume it is riveted on?

Thanks

EZGO used different labels over the years, but I think you are talking about the area shown in attached picture.

Technically, it is just a flat area of molded plastic behind the glued-on label (p/o dashboard assembly) and you can cut holes in it to mount stuff. There is a few inches of dead space behind it and you can access the backside by removing the cup holders. (They pop out using a big screwdriver, but I can't remember exactly how it is done.)

Legally, it is a warning label, so there may be some state or local laws that prohibit removing or obscuring the label.

Thanks JohnnieB,

Yes the label in the attached picture.

I thought of the legal aspect but if I ever sell the cart I would remount the saved stock label. Just wanted to mount a 12V Cigarette lighter and a dual port USB ports there.

Either that or lose less golf balls...

That area is completely usable. In my 2005 TXT, I put gauges there.

Nice! Any chance of a close up on the gauges? Is that a GPS speedo?

Thanks Kernal!
No, not a GPS?speedo (yet). Eqqus tach, tiny tach/hourmeter, volts, oil temp, and an air temp gauge(sensor attached to side of head). This is on a V-twin gas motor.

Still workin on it.
I Plan on doing a build thread about the gauge install soon.

That's cool. good deal. Any tips on getting to it should I remove the plate or is it easier to remove the cup holders and get to it that way. Thanks a lot.

You can't really remove the cup holders. They are molded into the dash. I used a carbon-fiber look like dash plastic cover. This covers over entire dash. So I used a spiral saw and cut out that "sticker" area.
The use of the cover allowed me cut all that dash area out without having to be too careful with the original dash. They make all different kinds of those covers. Just have to check around with some of the site sponsors.

The first photo is the back of the cover with the gauges. The second photo is the original dash cutout.

You can remove the top of the cup holders with 2 flat blade screwdrivers. Wedge them in at the dash side and pop the rear up. Will give a little better access to the back..
