Default Plum quick speed? Too fast?

Does anyone know how fast is “too fast” for a plum quick bandit motor?

I’ve got the IQ/sepex that was based on a GE motor. Just got it put in today after a few “hiccups”. Runs great now. But I clocked 28mph on flat pavement and wasn’t sure how fast is “too fast” I don’t want to over-rev the thing. I can’t find any info on their website really.

Basically “stock” tire size 205/50-10 tires.

Based off a 12:1 rear axle (just a guess, it’s a 2008 club car DS with graziano rear axle) that’s about 6300rpm

Anyone have any info or knowledge on this here?

You could ask Robbie but I agree 6500 would probably be a max. I think they test them faster than that but not for extended times.

That’s about what I was thinking as well, thanks.

Honestly I won’t be going flat out very often, except maybe a couple stretches of road where I ride that are kinda busy and I’d just like to get through and off the road. But anything above about 25 and steering gets a little “light”. Especially if I have kids in the back seat. Big difference losing 350lbs of lead in front of the rear axle! Still thinking of maybe adding 50ish pounds or so of ballast in the front frame somewhere to load the front end a bit more. Think that would help quite a bit.

If you need a front spoiler you are probably going too fast in a golf cart

I have a 2018 Precedent with 205x50x10 with Code 4 and the Bandit upgrade.

As per Matt, he informed me that at 32mph a Plum Quick Bandit should be about 4500rpm. He also said not to exceed 6000rpm and in order for me to hit 6500rpm I would need to be going downhill at top speed.

I've hit 29mph with my motor and keep it under that.

Now that I've had mine since Feb, I believe (don't tell the wife) that for me it wasn't worth the upgrade as my cart is strictly used for golf. I do travel close to a mile to get to the golf course, but I'm in a gated community so there's minimal street traffic.

But if you're using yours mainly for street driving then it's worth it.

Answered my own question tonight.

Apparently around 27-28mph must be the max cause that’s when she let loose

Oh well. At least I’ve still got my stock motor so 10 minutes and I’m back up and running. The PQ did add a few mph and a noticeable bit of extra torque but I wouldn’t say it was a HUGE difference either. Think I’ll leave it alone unless I decide to upgrade to AC. Don’t know if I need or want to go through all that but who knows what wild hairs may grow a week or a month from now

Everything was shiny and purple and clean when I installed it…

That shouldn't have happened with a Bandit upgrade at 27-28mph as you should have been well under 6500rpm.

We're you going downhill at top speed?

Nope. I know better than that. Flat pavement with me and 2 kids. Slight uphill if anything.

205/50/10 tires are shorter than stock aren’t they? Probably depends on the tire brand.
I’d call it a job well done!
