2012 TXT 48v Chip?
I wanted to get a speed chip (personality plug) for my ezgo (exact type is in the title). It is a 48v PDS and the website says not for use with 48v. Can I use it or is there another type of chip I can get. All I want to do is get my cart from 14mph (now) to about 18-19mph. Is there another type of chip I can get or is there something I can do to it to speed it up.
Anything helps. |

Re: 2012 TXT 48v Chip?
Need to unlock "freedom mode". Dealer only. Has to be plugged into a "unlock chip" with a limited number of uses (only the dealer has it). Since the chip is limited to 20 uses (and costs the dealer hundereds of dollars) it wont be free. It will get you to 19 mph with no other modifications.

Re: 2012 TXT 48v Chip?
By 20 uses, do you mean after 20 times of me taking the cart out it won't work? If not, what do you mean?

The chip will unlock 19mph "freedom mode" on 20 different carts, then its "used up".

Okay, and I found one online, is it possible for me to install it myself, or is it something only the dealer can do.
PS: I know my way with electrical wiring. |

Re: 2012 TXT 48v Chip?
Found one what? The ezgo chip will enable speeds up to 19.5, but sets it at 17.5 by default, programmer will be able to set @ 19.5 once unlocked. Programmer cannot set to 19.5 if not unlocked ("freedom enable = 0 - no clone"). Hope this makes sense, yes, ezgo made it difficult to get speed for the end-user without paying dealer. Any other questions, feel free to ask (i work at a ezgo dealer).

I found the unlocking key online (Ezgo part number 61551. It is a single use. Can I bring it to my dealer and have them install it or can I install it. If I can't, how much do you think they'll charge

Re: 2012 TXT 48v Chip?
You can hook it to the diagnostic port (will be in the area just in front of the motor controller), then turn key on, reverse beeper should sound twice if changes were accepted. As i said, it will default to 17.5mph, and can be set to 19.5 with curtis handheld tool. After beeps, turn key off and remove Programmer chip. Be sure to reinstall dust cover on diag port.

Re: 2012 TXT 48v Chip?
Can I buy the key and do what I can at home (17.5) and then later bring it in to get it fully in freedom mode (19.5), or do I have to have it done all at once.

Re: 2012 TXT 48v Chip?
It can be done however you choose, it wont matter. I forgot to mention, it might require cycling the tow/run switch when programming is done for settings to take effect.
