Default Workhorse ST 350 runs poorly

Newby here.
Just picked up a Workhorse ST350, mfg code A203, Robin engine model EH35C.
She's not pretty but was cheap. Starts and runs, barely, have to choke the sh*t out of it, no power, smells rich. I'll start w/ obvious fuel and air filter, but seller said it was running good recently at 1000 feet elevation. I'm at 2600-not sure if that matters. Suggestions or links to manuals, etc?

My first suggestion would be to clean out the carb and fuel system, If your having to choke it that much, it points to either clogged carb, fuel pump/bad gas, or low compression...

So after plugs and filters, One plug had a lot of oil and grit on it. Ran pretty good for about a mile. Then it didn't. Started with light popping on decel, then more popping then a Big Bang, clunk, crack, died and now won't turn over. Blown up?

See if you can spin it backwards by hand, if so you dropped a connecting rod. Fixable, yes but if it did I would either rebuild it, buy a better rebuilt one or clone it.
