Default Accelerator Switch Assembly - Sparking?

Working on a 1994 EZGO Marathon and noticed that the copper brush with lead sparks signigicantly when making contact with the accelerator plate. Is this normal? It looks like the copper brush is worn and we may need to replace. After doing some reading, just wondering if the sparking is normal.Attachment 133125

Moving contact looks pretty trashed, like its gonna weld itself in the "Go" position soon.

Replaced the copper brush assembly and it was still sparking. Pic shows the difference in the old and new one. Found out one of the resistor coils needs to be replaced.

Here's the coil. Any thoughts on what caused that? With what I have read, I'm surprised it even runs.

looks like to me a combination of things. Not big enough wire gauge wise, Moisture or bad/loose connection, and or wiring somewhere along the line was incorrect.
