Thanks CG. How do you feel about the Lucas Oil Synthetic high performance gear oil?

Re: Change transaxle brake oil
Never used it. Don't know. I'm sure it's a fine product. I would say it needs to meet or exceed GL-5, and be approved for limited slip axles (or additive friction modifier will be needed).

Re: Change transaxle brake oil
I purchased it from Advance Auto. The price is $14.99 a quart, but I got 20% off when you order in online and pick it up at the store.

Re: Change transaxle brake oil
So ever since I used the Synthetic gear oil it seams that the wet brake doesn't like it. now I can hear noise coming from the drivers side axle. I'm going to replace it with the Yamaha stuff, add see what happens

Re: Change transaxle brake oil
My bet is that your brakes will work correctly and the noise will go away.

Re: Change transaxle brake oil
Well the noise is a little quieter but still noticeable. I was amazed to see how dirty the oil was for such a short time in the axle. Think I will change it again, but this time use the 11 oz of the Lucas HD oil additive and 2 oz of friction additive and the rest yamaha oil.
Any specific Friction modifier to use? |
