electrical shock from muffler
hi,total newbie here ,trying to get a gi going...i think it is early eighties. any how,had the cart running last summer, then it died....would not turn over.so,it sat all winter.
pulled it out to have a look and discoverd the red wire on the starter had broken off. i repaired the wire and the motor now turns over fine, but will not start....appears to be no spark. when i pushed the accelerator with my hand and touched the muffler with my other hand i got a shock that pulsed like ignition ...removed the coil from the motor and still getting the same shock. can anyone give me an educated guess as to why this is happening? |

Re: electrical shock from muffler
There's four wires coming out on the bottom of the fan side make sure they haven't rubbed off the coating and shorting out to motor

Re: electrical shock from muffler
Anyone know if early 80s Yamahas used points still? I had a problem like that on one of my earlier points carts before I converted it to an HEI.
