Kroil is the absolute best! A little spendy but totally worth it. and FWIW Luke, I had the same problem with the wheel on my 92 DS and I ended up just cutting the thing off. If you're not planning on replacing the wheel with aftermarket just let me know. I may have a stock CC wheel in my pile-o-parts I could send to you.

I left pressure on it all afternoon yesterday tightening the puller up with the impact wrench every 30 minutes. I also whacked the back of it while it was under pressure.

Thanks. I have the wheel off a 2004 DS I want to put on. I really dislike the old 3 spoke wheel so whenever I get a cart with one, I switch it out. :)

Here are some threads and pics.

The steering wheel puller may work on the older DS wheels.
Well it may leave you a metal collar on the shaft but that should be easy to remove
with an easy cut and chisel to split.

There's a lot of horror stories about the CC steering wheels not wanting to come off. You can fix the threads like this. Or a file, or a hacksaw blade, or a dremel with a cut off wheel

So I cut off all the plastic and now I have this little monster stuck on my shaft. You can also see how badly the threads are damaged, but I’m sure that can be fixed. How do I get this off without any fancy tools?

I see a cut with a grinder so I assume you have one. You can't cut it parallel to the shaft as you will cut the bearing. You have to cut it on an angle and then finish with a couple of plunge cuts 90 degrees to the shaft at the base next to the bushing. TIP, only cut deep enough to JUST see the tips of the threads, the chisel will split the rest. You should have it off in less time than it took me to write this message!

Well- I just took the easiest possible solution. A guy came over to buy one of my carts and he really wanted this one. So I told him the steering wheel shaft is stuck, but he still wanted it. So it’s officially gone...

This is a great forum and the help is invaluable. Thank you everyone.

Luke
