Default G16 Spark Issue

I have a G16 and I am getting no spark. I have changed the coil with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unplug 2 wire plug at front of motor. It has blue and black wires. If you still have no spark, the coil or coil install is bad. If you bought the cheap China coil (not in a totally sealed Yamaha bag with yamaha part number sticker) it's probably bad right out of the box, heard that one before.

What he said. I tried the cheap route (caltric I think). Waste of money get the real thing. If you want cheap, used on Ebay is better than new Chinese.

Thanks, I will try that. I did buy the cheap one before I knew better.

I have spark now but it still won’t start. It turns over just fine. I tried unplugging the stop switch also. Any help would appreciated. Thanks

Try squirting a little gas in the spark plug hole, see if it will fire off and stumble a little. If so time to check fuel - make sure fuel is getting to the carb and make sure carb is clean.

If nothing happens squirting gas in spark plug hole, check ckmpression
