Default G2 belt problem

Sometimes I'll step on gas the belt won't engage. Belts r in good shape and changed within the past couple of yrs. I tighten the belt and worked a few times but then stopped again. When I hand turn the pulley and then hit gas it works usually. Is belt too loose too tight or is it something g like the secondary pulley???

More like worn starter brushs. I say this because you say you turn the engine alittle and it starts.

It looks like I can get to the brushes without taking the whole starter out. Is that the way to go???

You can get a better look inside, and blow it out with compressed air (don't breathe that stuff).

To do it right you want to pull it out. Theres more to just changing the brushes and calling it a day.
