Default Controllers

I have been looking at every web site I can find about a higher amp controller for a 2001 Club Car DS. Everything is stock except for the f/r switch. Can someone please tell me how many amps I can go without changing everything. I also would like a plug and play controller. I would prefer not to re wire the cart.

I would recommend getting in contact with David at Revolution Golf Cars (site sponsor). He took time to listen to my needs and explain the ins and outs of different things. The answer, as to what will make sense for your needs, may be different than it would be for someone else. It just depends what you use your cart for and your expectations.

For a series cart you can use 400-500 amps on the stock motor. If you mean to upgrade the controller and not upgrading the F&R and cable set then 400 amps should be your choice.

These 2 will get you by with your stock set up.

If you anticipate going bigger down the road, you can go with a 500 or 600 and then just tune the amperage down to work with your stock configuration until the time comes to grow your cart into more..... Here are lots to choose from https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/c...-club-car-ds-i

And as BBBHC stated, David is a good resource to bounce your ideas off of. (As is scottyb)
