I did notice the exhaust seemed excessively hot for the short amount I ran it. Is there a way I can check if it is plugged?
I’m going to take it back apart and clean the engine since it is very dirty and fins are still grimy. I’ve got proof of life, so now it’s really time to get busy!
Good news!

I think I have all the parts to the air box, but i’m not sure I have it assembled right. There is a circular piece that fits between the oil filter and the lid with a flange. I have seen other threads listing parts, but i’m Wondering if anyone has a photo on how this goes together?

Mine are both ‘87 4-cycle, one still has stock airbox. Can’t recall if yours is 2 or 4 stroke, ( or if that was mentioned) and I don’t know if the air box is the same.
If it’ll help, I’ll get some pictures tomorrow -
. . . if it’s not raining buckets - again.
Not complaining, being in Northern California, wet is good. No fires . . . yet.

Thanks Vets !

Okay, I didn't do much work over the weekend, but the cart consistently starts and intermittently runs, sometimes it bogs and cuts out. Airbox sealed, loose, or off makes no difference. I put an inline spark tester on and, sure enough, I am flashing out and then no spark at all when it dies. Sit for a couple seconds or double pump the pedal and it jumps back to life.

So I am assuming ignitor?
I got the parts from O'Reilly today to do the chrysler conversion and i'll let you know how it goes.
