Charger Question — low buzz and only slightly warm
Question about Precedent Charger: my charger used to make a significant buzzing when charging and would get fairly hot to the touch. Over the last couple of charges, I’ve noticed poor battery performance (longevity and power), and the charger is now only making a very low buzzing and only gets slightly warm to the touch. I do get the initial “click” a few seconds after plugging in, as usual. Does this sound like a charger issue or an OBC issue? Batteries are 3 years old and not over- or underused. Meter on the charger is stuck close to 15 amps — doesn’t move when charging or unplugged.
Thanks in advance. Glad to be part of the forum. |

Re: Charger Question — low buzz and only slightly warm
If the ammeter needle is stuck, then it’s likely the meter has failed.
You can open the charger and connect the two wires that go to the meter for testing to see if it returns to making normal loud noise again. Make sure the ends of the wires are not burned or otherwise damaged. If there is any evidence of overheating of the wires, they will need to be repaired prior to testing. |
