Re: Mounting/dismounting Tires
"Aside from getting the bead to seal, the biggest frustration I have found with doing them this way is securing the wheel so you can roll the tire bead on or off
Thank you. That is what I wanted to hear. Some tires just fit so tight it is almost impossible to change by hand but it looks like gc tires aren't that way. Thank you Fred Mc. |

Re: Mounting/dismounting Tires
You can use a little ether and a lighter to seal the tire beads if you know what you're doing. It only takes a little bit of ether and a lot of knowhow.

Re: Mounting/dismounting Tires
Heard of guys putting a ratchet strap around the tires outside to squeze it while they air it up to set the bead.

Re: Mounting/dismounting Tires
I've got an old Coats 40-30 and lots of experience mounting car/truck tires (13-16.5" dia). Never attempted a cart tire...anyone know if it"ll fit around the center spindle and if the bead-breaker arm will reach the small diameter of the cart wheel? Also, the tire spoon work correctly? I'll get around to trying it at some point...but just wondering if anyone that has used an old Coats 40-30 or 40-40 can incourage/discourage me.

Re: Mounting/dismounting Tires
I have a old time hand machine that works great but it is still hard to change 8inch rims.As far as the either trick goes I was going to say that to.I have done that on a few occassions and it works great but you have to be careful.Dont drink and light up ether tires.

Re: Mounting/dismounting Tires
A pain if the tire is very much wider than the rim it going on. The funnest ones are the ones where someone has filled them with that Slime mess. I like those.

Re: Mounting/dismounting Tires
I have used that slimmy green stuff in my mower tires. Something to look foreward to I guess.
