I wouldn't tear it apart yet.I would try to make it run first. Make a car out of it,then when your sure whats wrong, then start to repair.
Read all posts or search "oil on filter". Reading all posts will teach you all you need to know about your car,and how to repair it.
Your not sure,if you have a G 14 or not, or if the motor is a G9 or a G8, which use different ignitions. Get the number off the ignition mod. call Yamaha and find out what you have

its a g14 everything is identical to mine. it should have 300cc motor. some g14's used the g9 airbox. thats what i was told today by a friend. the g14 got a new engine but used the same airbox. not that they used the g9 engine.

The rear body is a G-8. You will need parts that fit a G-8. The front cowl has been changed out like alot of other g-8s. They were very fragile.

When you changed the oil did you add 1 qt or fill to the dip stick line. I heard that when you lift them the angle of the engine will show that the oil is low and if you fill to the line it will blow into the air cleaner. I hope it is something simple like that.

Spriddle and Craig tn were right, It's a G8 with a G16 front cowel installed. Serial # plate would be just forward of the battery on the vertical frame member. Will start with JF2-*****. About the oil in airbox, many posts on that. Only one qt. But if the carb float is not closing (stuck) the gas has no were else to go but past the rings into the crankcase then into the air box and the muffler also. Did the old gas smell like gas also? One last thing, In several cars over the years, i'v encountered the fuel pump (diaphram) damaged allowing gas to get into the crankcase thru the pulsar line, not highly likley though. Can you run a compression check? (make shure you have a good battery and the throttle is open all the way). Good luck Dave

the rear has been changed as well because its green plastic and it looks fairly good once i got the spray paint off... i think that indeed could be getting to much gas and this could be my problem. if i take the fuel pump apart to clean it do i have to replace diaphram or can i use the old one. also the plug is a wet look not black and burnt so it could more less be to much gas but how do i fix this i cleaned the carb and jets gas tank and hose's im going to install a inline fuel filter now.

o one more important thing the past owner by passed the governor hooking the throttle cable directly up to the carb it closes all the way but it is maybe letting the carb get to much gas but since i have cleaned everything i only drove it about half throttle and it drove great intill i let it sit over night and then washed it. i was thinking i got something wet and then flooded the engine because there was no spark due to something being wet....
