Default Lights, Blown fuse, asked many times I'm sure

ok, I'm new here and I'm sure this has been asked numerous times so I'm sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here...

I just bought a 2000 Yamaha (G16 I think) and I installed two halogen lights and I keep blowing the main fuse if I turn the lights on. I did a search here last night and found out I should wire it straight to the battery (possitive & ground) I figured that was surely going to fix my problem.

This morning I re-wired the ground to the battery and put in another 10amp fuse and took off with the lights on. 50 feet or so the fuse blew again.

All I'm planning on doing is the lights, no other acc. Could I put a 20 amp fuse in there with no problems, fire, etc.?

The cart is right off the golf course, so there's nothing other than the lights I put on it.

how many watts are your halogens lights?
it might be to much load for the fuse..

I = amps
E = volts
P = watts

so to find out p / e = i or amps

so after you figure that out, make sure your wire and fuse that is feeding the lights is big enough to handle the amps...

I didn't even think of getting lights with low watts. I just looked at the box the lights came in and they are 55 watts. I'm guessing that's too high huh?

I guess I'll make a trip to walmart and buy some other lights and I guess I should stay away from halogen lights?

thats about 9 amps dc at 12 volts iv have six of them on my cart no problem i only run 4 at a time but i have the fuse set up for 20 amps and a 12 guage wire feeding them , i also have a fuse block , so the lights, radio, etc all have there own fuse, and the fuse block even has its own fuse to protect its wire right of the battery..

Really helped me out, and eletricity scares and baffles me! Knew I needed/ wanted to use a relay, and the directions that came with it weren't to helpful, so found that on-line and saved it..

The pic of my relay and sub fuse panel.
The lights and air horns are fed by the relay.
