Default 1991 club car controller problem

We upgraded our 1991 club car from a v-glide to an Alltrax solid state 400 amp controller with a 3.5 hp motor (was 36v now 48v). It has the potentiometer switch (pb-6) on it. Now the cart jerks whenever we start out. After moving it smooths out. I want to reprogram the controller. I also need to find out how the brake and gas work together or is that controlled by the computer as well? Any thoughts?

I have seen this problem in CC with alltrax controllers. The controller takes a moment to power up. If you are getting your controller power from anywhere on the peddle activated circuitry ( PB-6 micro?) then it is asking the controller to instantly power up and take a throttle signal. The alltrax delay in 'power up' results in it waking up to a signal below 5k ohms ( 5k-0 is full range ).

Try this test:
Disconnect the power up wire to the controller at small pin #1 and land a 48v positive jumper wire on it to turn the controller on and test drive it..... how is now? If it is okay then possibly use the f&r micros or the key switch to power the controller. Hope this helps.

I do not mean to be a little lacking in the mechanical dept but what kind of 48v jumper wire? Also what are the f&r micros? We are using a PB-6 micro switch. Could we just turn on the key wait a minute and then go or do I need to reprogram it. I will try what you suggested this weekend and let you know, but I need as much info as possible.

Ok I am now an official idiot. I know what the f&r microswitches are. (forward and reverse). How do I adjust these or do we just replace them? Our cart was professionally worked on and now we cannot get ahold of the repair person. We need to get this fixed asap. Thank you again!

Problem fixed. The pot-box was dirty and the controller needed a little adjusting. Runs great!
