Cart won't move, growls when asked to.
Hello everyone, I am in dire straights right now. I broke the shop cart and am seeing if I can fix it before anyone finds out. First off it's a 2000 or 2002 white EZGO electric cart, sorry don't know specifics; I slammed it from reverse to forward (I was being impatient in the rain) and it kind of popped and will not move in F or R now. When I push the accelerator it makes a growling noise and I can feel vibration the most right around where the motor/gearbox meets the axle, I'm guessing the main drive gear popped or something similar. Is this a serious fix? If not do I just pop the cover off and go at it? Many thanks if anyone can share some info or advice.

Check the castle nuts on the ends of the axles to see if one of them is spinning when you depress the accelerator pedal. This is the center nut, once you pull off the wheel cover if it has one.
If it spins, you have stripped the splines in the axle or hub or both. |

It is usually the passenger side that strips out and the nut is torqued to like 100 Ft pounds.... So what's the verdict?

Yep, spinning. What can I do with it? Can I fix it temporarily?

If you try anything as a temporary fix - plan on buying a new axle too Get yourself a hub and be done with it - castle nut goes on at 85 ft lbs!
