battery run times not long
I have a 36 volt ezgo cart Lifted with 23 inch tires . The cart will run for about a hour or less and the battery meter starts to go down . I have bought new batteries and new 4ga wires and it still does the samething . Was told run time was like 8 hours not getting anywhere that close . Also when it sits for sometime you cut it back on and it reads full charge . Anyone know whats going on here

Re: battery run times not long

Re: battery run times not long
Doesn't sound to me like you are following the proper break-in procedures to get your pack up to full strength? You are killing your batteries if you are not breaking them in according to the manufacture's recommendations
Sorry, but the cart will not run 8 hours if you pull a train of batteries.... The manufacture calls out 90 minutes of actual peddle time on a fully charged pack. Big tires will draw more power to turn and result in diminished run time. here is a link to battery break-in procedures. Re: battery run times not long
90 minutes at full discharge rates is not the same as peddle time. You should get 4 to 6 hours of on / off driving. There may be an issue with one of the batteries having a dead cell? Controller over heating? Motor problems? First thing is to take the cart to a shop that has a discharge machine and test the battery pack all at once. Hopefully the shop that sold you the batteries can help you with this first step in diagnosis...

Re: battery run times not long
Think of it this way.
Most carts with decent batteries will do 36 holes of golf a day pulling 2 guys and their equipment with no problem. 4 hours per round ='s 8 hours of run time and this on my local course would be over 11 miles depending on how crooked the shots were. You should be getting 16 plus miles on your lifted cart, but not if you are doing it with the pedal to the floor. I've used my lifted cart as a beverage buggie in a ladies tournament (5 hour rounds) and never had the SOC meter move off of the top bar. 3 ice chest full of beer and ice, me (225 pounds) along with the added weight of the rear seat/20" tires. Did you buy discount batteries or Trojans ? Sounds like you have a dead cell or two. |
