Default New belts for the beast

So this 88 1/2 2 stroker I resurrected from the dead needed belts pretty bad. From what I can tell they were the original OEM belts and I'm surprised they were still in one piece. The starter/gen belt was so stretched it took a load of belt spray to get it to bite but I didn't want to go through the whole process of R&R-ing the drive belt to change it until I had a new drive belt sitting in front of me. Well today was finally the day!

I did a whole lot of searching to find what belts from different manufacturers would interchange with mine (OEM 23557-G1). Finally I decided to go with a Carlisle Ultimax which I'm sure is overkill for a 9 horse motor The belt is a 44 7/8 belt so it's not really a torque mod per se, but since the old belt was very worn it made a very big difference in performance when I installed it. If anyone else needs a replacement for that 23557-G1 belt the Carlisle number is MAX1039M3

Lemme tell ya, I'm pleased with the results. The cart jumps right off the line now and there's absolutely no slippage at any RPM even though I've only got 20 minutes on the belt. I added a Dayco gold label "Top Cog" belt for the start/gen and that should be that for many moons to come.

A couple pics of old and new belts for comparison
