Default 42 Volts / Stock DCS Controller ?

Going 48 volts with a new controller etc etc....

Question is.... What would happen to the stock controller at 42VDC?

Cart runs fine on stands with the charger plugged in (reed switch has been bypassed) on 41 + volts.

So.... controller goes BOOM in 5 seconds? Complete meltdown?

Not concerned about the stock wiring as just about everything is going to be replaced.

Hard to say. It may last 6months or 6 minutes. The voltage on a 42 v pack gets higher than 42v. Closer to 47v fully charged ....

Talking Re: 42 Volts / Stock DCS Controller ?

Kinda the whole point

Stock controller doesn't have much resale value so if the smoke comes out really no loss.

I'd be happy with 6 minutes.... just going to run it in the alley at the shop before going to 48 volt with the new controller, but I'm curious how much abuse the stock controller can handle.

Let us know

Actually you are wrong. They burn up so easy the demand is high for cheap replacements. A stock DCS controller has about $150 value.

Well.... that was a boring experiment.

46.7 pack voltage.

Good news... No smoke.

Bad news... No noticeable difference in speed / tourqe.

Cart is back to 36 volts.

48 volts is usually accomplished with a larger controller = more amperage too. The controller could have been choking down the delivery.
