you just need a small metric bolt for the carb, or cut the line about 2"
' from the carb inlet and plug it. there is nothing else to plug. the pump is held on by two small screws. just pull it and the oil tank and throw away. mix 1oz of to 1 gal. of gas and you will be good.

^^That is correct - the screws hold it on to the end of the crankshaft which is slotted to mechanically turn the pump. However, this isn't the crankcase - this is the fan shroud that covers the fan and flywheel.

If you can find a plastic cap or something to cover then end, it will keep dirt and stuff out of the fan. However, this is not a mandatory thing to do.

Myself, I pulled the whole works off, put the rods and ball ends in the "parts I'll need later" pile, dropped a metric bolt into the banjo bolt hole, and threw out the oil tank. Nice easy job.

Pretty sure it was an M6, though my memory is getting worse the older I'm getting.

Could also remove the banjo bolt and go down to your local hardware store and try it with some nuts.
