Shorter belt for 87 marathon
I tried changing to a shorter belt for my 87 marathon gas, but after ordering the HP3004, which ended up being way too short and I finallhy measured what my OE belt was. Turns out that the original is 46" I tried different auto parts store and ended up buying another OE belt as no one had anything that long or close. So anyone with a similar year and model I would just stick with stock. It did make a big difference in being able to go up hills a lot easier and not bogging down.
Belt number was 14153-G1. Rob |

Re: Shorter belt for 87 marathon
The correct shorter belt is the DAYCO HP2004 not 3004. The 2004 is 45 1/8th inch long. If you new 46 inch belt made a difference then it is probably because the belt was worn with the wear being in the width causing it to pick up later. The 7/8 ths makes a big difference over the stock belt.

Re: Shorter belt for 87 marathon
Yea the other belt was pretty worn. The cart barely made it up the slight slope in my driveway. I will have to remember that HP2004 next time I get a new belt.
