You guys are great! I went to look at a used drive clutch today. It was on an '85 model and it was not a transverse engine. How remarkable!

I tested the battery and found it bad. Replacing it and will see what happens. Previous owner said he had the generator tested already.
So am I to understand that the transverse engine is the 3PG and the inline engine is the 2PG?

I am sure there is an exception somewhere, but I know EZ go Textron , Club Car and Yamaha haven't had a non transverse engine that I can recall.

In other words, it is almost safe to say ALL golf cars have *sideways* or transverse motors.

It is the rule, not the exception.
My 87 2 cycle has front to back crank and my 89 truckster pictured below has transverse crank - I bought it by accident for the engine for my 87. I believe the transverse setup allows for one diff to take either a clutch or an electric motor. My gas diff has the bell housing for an electric motor. The tread plate is standard on trucksters. My bed does tilt - it may get a lift - any cheap ideas out there??

Nice work.... Here's my $50 electric. Came with charger & usable batteries!!! Got rid of solid rubber filled tires??? Added rear braces, blasted & painted fixed bed. Rear fenders were destroyed by supporting the bed on construction sites.
Anyone out there know of specific power mods - carb upgrade, porting mods on 3PG??

Is that roll cage bolted on or welded?

It's welded together but bolted to the frame.

Ok new issue guys! I got another clutch and was going to install it today only to find that they may not be compatible. The clutch on the cart now is a Comet Duster 215583A. It takes a smaller bolt for removal than the original model that I got. I'm looking for a crossover chart to see if the new original will work before removing the Comet. The unit still runs now and don't want to have it torn down and unusable.
