Default 1986 gas ezgo need help

My 86 ezgo is gas and I'm new to carts as I just bought it. It fires up the issue is when I put forward or reverse the engine engages but the cart only moves sometimes. I can floor it and it sputters sometimes and acts like ut wants to move but it won't not surecwhat to do?

I flushed gas air out fuel lines Changed plug

Please advise

A few times it engaged and drove fine but if I don't keep it floored then it seems to have trouble starting from a standstill

Mine was doing the same thing. If you keep it floored, pull the choke out for a second and push the choke back in will it try and take off? Can't hurt to tear your carb down and go over it with cleaner and the air compressor. You might change the fuel filter as well.

Also grab hold of your drive clutch(the one on the engine)and see if you can shake it up and down/side to side.If it wiggles, you could have bad crank seals and bearings which would let it suck air through the crank case.I'm currently rebuilding the bottom end on mine because of that.

get it warmed up and check your compression it may be time for an overhaul. This could also be a rev limiter causing trouble or the gov. out of adjustment.
