Default G1 choke removal help

Alright, I got the kids a G1 for cheap.. and it runs. But I'm taking everything off and getting it looking good. Not sure why, they will just beat the hell out of it. But I'm removing the front body clip and trying to remove that small fiberglass piece the key and choke cable go into.

How the hell do you get that choke cable out of that hole? Does the rubber part you grab onto when you engage choke come off? That big rubber piece isn't going through that hole.

Thanks guys.

My old G1 choke knob had a small set screw that needed to be loosened. Then the knob could be unscrewed from the cable shaft. Then the nut could be taken off and the cable slipped through the back side of the dash.

You mean that obvious set screw on the side that I didn't notice? Thanks guys. Guess I need to drink after I'm done working on it, not during

LOL! Don't feel bad, I was looking all over for the 14mm wrench to remove my shocks. Looked under, behind, above, cleaned out my wrenches drawer, must've been 30 minutes looking for it.......it was in my back pocket! LOL

Don't feel bad...I was up in arms on how to install the new cable until a buddy said "take this off with this screw" while holding the pull handle... :)

Old cable broke, so it wasn't an issue removing it!
