1980 Ezgo running rich at slow speeds, surging at full throttle
The motor was just rebuilt, still running the first tank through. It starts right up without the choke, runs great. Seems a little rich at part throttle (would rather rich than lean), but it surges at full speed.
I tried putting the choke on slightly at full speed but that just caused it to bog down. Everything has been replaced (bearings, rings, fuel pump, carb, all seals and gaskets), confirmed fuel flow, checked float level, no vacuum leaks. Governor disconnected. It does have a new chineseium carb since the original was missing. I tried putting a carb from an 88 (also chineseium) and it actually ran worse. Needed the choke to start every time, no power, etc. Ideas? Anyone know where I can find jets for these carbs? Thanks |

Re: 1980 Ezgo running rich at slow speeds, surging at full throttle
When I rebuilt my 85, after the first tank at 40:1, then next tank at 80:1, afterwards 128:1, It ran better each tank. You might need to change plug after rich tanks. I believe this is normal, but someone may have a better answer for you. I hope this helps.
