Default Drive Belt on a TXT

2001 TXT a friend has just purchased. Is there a good reference point, or some rule of thumb regarding the drive belt?

we are losing some information in translation as he just bought the cart and I haven't seen it in person. I have no idea if they are even adjustable.

Possible the belt just needs replaced but without having the cart in my possession I figured someone here could tell me about how tight the belt should feel or tell me if its adjustable.

thanks

The Starter/Generator belt is adjustable, however your Drive belt is not. There is no general rule of thumb I'm aware of, except that it is time to replace once is gets frayed or badly worn or if you are having trouble with slipping on inclines.

Are you having an issue? What is the cart doing/not doing.

Replacing the belts is not a big operation nor is it expensive. When in doubt, if the belts are old, replace them.

That being said, make sure you always troubleshoot any issue to the fullest in this case you might buy a new belt and have the same issue and only to find you needed to service/grease the clutch or clutches.

That was my point, I think he was just looking at the belt and thought they looked loose. I don't have the cart available to look at but I did mention that if they are old belts it may be worth replacing them just as preventative maintenance. For now I will tell him if it isn't acting goofy then don't worry about it!

They actually do look loose just sitting but tighten when the motor starts.
One way people get more low end start up torque is to put a 1" shorter belt on it.
I relocated my motor forward a 1/2" to accomplice the same results.
