Re: 1987 Club Car Not Charging
That pretty much leaves the regulator.
You should be able to remove the yellow wire from the regulator, run it straight to battery - or chassis - (jumping the DF to ground) and the SG output should run over 15v at full throttle. If it does that, you have 12v supplied at the regulator, and clean grounds everywhere, the Regulator is the problem. The old one may just be bad, but I would bet the new one is just some cheap China junk. This is the one for most carts 92 and up. https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/p...t-for-club-car |

Re: 1987 Club Car Not Charging
It maxed at 17.2v Wide open for awhile.
What's the second black wire on the new regulator? I apologize for all the questions. |

Re: 1987 Club Car Not Charging
Does 1 black go to case, and one to battery?

Re: 1987 Club Car Not Charging
Both are grounds. If one has a ring terminal on it that one is usually grounded to the bolt that goes through the middle of the regulator, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be if the regulator is bolted to the frame or to a clean metal surface.

Re: 1987 Club Car Not Charging
Sorry to butt in to this thread but I have a similar problem.
I am wondering what the voltage should be on the orange wire and the blue wire on the solenoid. Orange has 12v engine off then 4v engine on. |

Re: 1987 Club Car Not Charging
This spring I had the same problem on my 1989. Tried four voltage regs. The last two, I learned of the adjustment screw so not sure if the first two could not have been set to work. Finally Took Fairtax4me tip and moved to newer style voltage reg. Cart has been running good for three weeks. For any one with this issue, I would say skip that old style junk and go to the new model.
