backfire and clutch fixed
Well at first i thought I had an ignition problem, but then i checked the plug and it looked perfect. So i thought i had a clutch issue (perhaps bogging the motor). After searching for a month for all my parts, got it all done and there was hardly any change. I did notice that it was going a lot faster in reverse. It also wasn't backfiring in reverse, but would when i went forward. Since the motor spins a different direction in reverse I figured it was timing. I then switched the red/blue wires that come out of my engine and into the ignitor (and by the way, previously I did the GMC HEI conversion (and coil conversion). After changing the wires the cart ran amazing!!!!! Words can not describe the difference. Just thought others might like to know. Good luck!

Re: backfire and clutch fixed
also, so everyone knows. On the old marathons (that take a 45 inch drive belt), a belt that is 1 inch shorter and is working great for me is the belt for a 1991 Polaris 650 snowmobile. The are pretty cheap, i got mine for $31 including shipping. It was tight putting it on, but definately worth it!
